Mid-Winter Report – Long-Term Test of the Toyo Observe G3 Ice 215 50R17 – 2017 Chevrolet Volt.
February is already upon us! Springtime is visible on the horizon, but in the meantime we still have some snow storms, cold snaps and rain ahead of us…
No worries, we feel confident behind the wheel of our 2017 Volt equipped with Toyo Observe G3 Ice tires. No matter if the roads were snow-covered or icy, we were surprised by the ground adhesion they provided, not to mention the ride quietness and especially the remarkable effectiveness they maintained even in extreme cold weather. This last ability is particularly important given all the time we spend driving on snow-cleared roads in frigid temperatures.
We also had the opportunity to drive, over a distance of nearly 1,000 km, a 2017 Audi A4 Quattro fitted with Toyo Observe G3 Ice tires, and were happy to see that their performance was just as exceptional on that car. This is doubly reassuring given that the Audi is a sedan with sportier tendencies than the Volt.
Adhesion on ice/snow/rain/dry and frigid surface 4.5
Braking effectiveness 4.5
Overall road performance 4.5
Sound level 4
