"Canadian-built Civics have always been highly regarded for their value, driving experience and, of course, quality," added Ansari. "Honda is proud to have so many Civics on Canadian roads and around the world."

Around the world? That's right, not only do made-in-Canada Civics, and the other Honda and Acura vehicles that are built side-by-side, find homes here in Canada, but are also exported to twelve countries including the U.S. and Japan.
Incidentally, those other vehicles the Alliston facility builds include the Canadian-exclusive Civic-based Acura 1.7 EL, built on the same line as the Civic, while a second line, introduced in 1997, produces the Honda Odyssey minivan, Honda Pilot SUV and Acura MDX SUV (both based on Odyssey architecture).

The Canadian plant, that was the first to produce any Honda cars outside of Japan, has an annual production capacity of 390,000 vehicles.
The historic occasion arrives just when Honda is beginning production of the updated 2004 Civic, featuring a revised front fascia with modified headlights and a new grille. The new Civic, in its various forms, continues to be one of the cleanest gasoline powered cars, especially in gasoline-electric Hybrid form.
