Driven by the Swedish car and truck racer Boije Ovebrink, the Iron Knight truck has wrested the world speed record for trucks from the grip of the Mean Green heavy duty hybrid.
The Iron Knight truck is lighter than the Mean Green by 1,000 kg (2,025 lb) and produces 600 more horsepower for a whopping total of 2,400 HP along with 4,425 lb-ft of torque.
With its 13L diesel engine twinned with an I Shift Dual Clutch transmission, the Iron Knight can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.6 seconds, and has a top speed of 276 km/h - numbers that place in its performance in the category of true sports cars.
The Iron Knight has been Volvo’s opportunity to prove once again its supremacy in the domain of heavy duty trucks.
