Once again this year, Auto123 presents the most affordable cars in Canada in 2023.

Buying a new vehicle is a big expense for the average consumer. And with record inflation in recent months, rising interest rates and a shortage of labour and components, buying a new car is no small matter. 

Fortunately, we're keeping an eye on the market to point you in the direction of the cheapest new vehicles in Canada for the coming year. Unsurprisingly, the vehicle list has changed a bit since last year with some models dropping out. In several cases, that happens because of the removal from the product offering of a component deemed unnecessary in today's affordable car market: the manual transmission. In fact, a few budget-priced cars have dropped the three-pedal option altogether in 2023, which changes the order of things. 

Here's a look at the most affordable vehicles in Canada in 2023.

10th place: 2023 Toyota Corolla L (with CVT)    $22,960 + $1,720 in fees

Last year, the Corolla L was the eighth-best deal, but with the removal of the manual gearbox from the offerinf, the popular compact car sees its base price increase significantly. 

Indeed, the base price was under $20,000 just a year ago. On the other hand, those manning the brand’s dealerships will no longer have to offer the gearbox, which very few buyers choose anyway.
