Over the past few years, Audi has completely revamped its corporate image. Every model in the lineup now sports the brand's more aggressive front grille as well as a more assertive overall look.

Yet, even with their newfound personality, Audis remain fashionably curvy and unmistakably German. The A4 Cabriolet, of course, is no exception.

A few changes
To further define said personality, designers made a few changes to the vehicle's body during last year's makeover. The now-famous, trapeze-shaped oversized grille is flanked by slightly redesigned headlight clusters. Overall, the lines are clean and sleek -- just like a premium car should be. This convertible is neither radical nor flamboyant, but it conveys a quality feel thanks to flawless build quality and attention to details.

Unlike the exterior, the interior is exclusive to the A4 Cabriolet, except maybe for the lower part of the center stack. The air vents are round, not rectangular, and the layout as a whole looks more mature and akin to the sportier TT, which is known the world over for its beautifully-styled dashboard.

Relative value
Our tester came with all the bells and whistles Audi has to offer in this segment. The controls might be a bit complicated to decipher and get used to, but once you've become familiar with them, everything works smoothly. Material selection is irreproachable, just like fit and finish.

As with any cabriolet, passenger room is not a trademark of this A4. While front-seat access and room are reasonable, those sitting in the back will feel pretty tight, especially adults who are just a tad larger than average. Likewise, trunk capacity is limited by the folded top. But as I found out, even with the soft top in place, there's not much room for luggage.

Small for larger folks, the front buckets are nonetheless comfortable and the driving position is easy to find. The suspension does an honorable job and ride quality is generally good, provided that you're driving on something smoother than the average Quebec roads.
