2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee - Subtle Refinements Made to Classic SUV

Off in a corner, behind Dodge's giant glowing Ram logo, DaimlerChrysler's Jeep display seemed almost hidden. There wasn't much mentioned about an upgraded 2004 Grand Cherokee, but a quick look was all it took to notice a distinct separation from the current model and the one coming up.
The changes aren't revolutionary, but Jeep customers thinking about upgrading will like what they see. Pre-production versions show the front fascia has been revised, with a modified grille up top separating slightly restyled headlamp clusters, while new round fog lamps take the place at each lower corner where rectangular versions were previously. Between these the Grand Cherokee's lower air intake no longer mimics the top grille duplicating its seven slat design, but now simply offers a single ovoid vent to the engine's cooling system. Any changes to the SUV's profile are negligible to all but Grand Cherokee devotees, except for the wrap-around taillights, that show a subtle restyle, freshening up the SUV's rear quarter view and back end.
