Though the LF-Ch was shown in Detroit, it is still causing quite a stir. It is hoped that Lexus will use it as the foundation of a compact hybrid vehicle. But we’ll have to arm ourselves with patience in the meantime and simply admire the vehicle’s spectacular style, reflecting the sportier lines of the more aggressive Lexus models.

The contemporary cabin is decked out in leather and metal. Hand-worked leather and metal accents adorn the door panels, the instrument cluster and the seats. Throw in illuminated seats and a slew of gadgets that are compatible with the iPhone and other electronic assistants, and you get an ultra-modern cockpit.

Of course, the uniqueness of the LF-Ch comes from the latest generation of Lexus Hybrid Drive, which gives the driver full control as well as the choice between Normal, Eco, EV and Sport modes, the latter function improving throttle response. The classic elements are still there, such as Lexus’s Remote Touch system with its tactile feedback, currently featured in the 2010 HS 250h Hybrid and the luxury RX SUV, which allows the driver and front passenger to control the audio, navigation and air conditioning systems.
