Pros: The 2015 Volkswagen CC is a genuinely European midsize sedan (or 4-door coupe, if you prefer) with modern flair and sophistication, world-class engineering, solid handling, and a great driving experience. Even the base model comes with an interesting list of features and amenities.

Cons: The front grille is polarizing, that's for sure. While the entry price point is relatively affordable, higher trim levels appear much too expensive for what you actually get, so you might want to purchase a luxury sedan instead. The 4-cylinder is great, but the V6 burns a lot of gas -- premium gas, by the way. Finally, all-wheel drive is only available with the V6.

2015 Volkswagen CC Price: The base Sportline model starts at $36,375, while the more upscale Highline retails from $40,975. The range-topping Execline costs $50,175.

2015 Volkswagen CC Fuel Economy: City and highway ratings for the 2015 Volkswagen CC are 11.4/7.4L/100km with the 4-cylinder/manual transmission combo, or 10.7/7.7L/100km with the 4-cylinder/DSG pairing. As for the V6 with all-wheel drive, expect 13.9/9.3L/100km, respectively.

Improvements and Changes: Updates for 2015 include optional wheel designs, as well as keyless access with push-button start as standard equipment in base trim. The Highline V6 model changed its name to Execline.

2015 Volkswagen CC Powertrain: There are two options to choose from including a 200-horsepower 2.0L turbocharged 4-cylinder with front-wheel drive, and a 280-horsepower 3.6L V6 with 4MOTION all-wheel drive. Power goes through a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission.

Cargo Capacity: The CC's trunk can hold up to 400 litres of gear, right around the segment's average.

Safety: ABS, brake assist, electronic brake force distribution, stability control, and traction control all come standard. In the event of a collision, the Intelligent Crash Response System and 6 airbags will protect CC occupants.

Comparing the 2015 Volkswagen CC: Rivals of the Passat-derived CC include the Acura TLX, Audi A4, BMW 4 Series, and Hyundai Genesis.
