The 8-passenger Telluride will be followed soon by its close cousin the Hyundai Palisade

Within the next few days Kia dealerships will welcome a new SUV. The Telluride is the biggest utility model ever produced by the Korean automaker. And if you’re thinking  this product was conceived first and foremost for the North American market, you’re thinking is correct!

In fact the model was even designed in the United States.

Now the manufacturer’s Canadian division has confirmed pricing for the different versions that will be offered here.

The base EX version gets a starting price of $44,995. Next up the ladder is the SX trim with its $49,995 minimum price tag. The SX Limited version, which will only be made available a little later on, will come with a starting price of $53,995.

Certainly these are significant prices, but Kia has proven in recent years that it’s able to deliver a ton of value for the money it asks of buyers. The list of included equipment in each trims is more than generous.

Available options include wireless smartphone charging, heated AND ventilated back-row seats and dual-device Bluetooth connectivity.

All versions of the Telluride will come with the same engine, a 3.8L V6, able to deliver up to 291 hp and 262 lb-ft of torque. A choice of drive modes allows the driver to adjust the SUV’s performance parameters in different situations, including actual off-roading.

The list of safety and drive-assist technologies includes is suitable comprehensive.

Clearly, Kia wants to hit hard with its new 8-passenger SUV, and just as clearly many of its competitors in the segment that carry higher price tags will have to sit and take notice.

Stay tuned as we plan to have a full review of the model for you in the coming weeks.
