The South Koreans are leaders in the BEV space but they’re no slouch when it comes to PHEVs either. Hyundai’s Tucson PHEV comes with a turbocharged 4-cylinder engine and electric motor. Not only do you get the ability to drive in EV-only mode, with 180 hp and 195 lb-ft on-tap, the PHEV is the most powerful Tucson you can get.
Note that other markets get a PHEV version of the all-new Santa Fe as well, which we may see come to Canada for 2025 depending on its sales performance elsewhere.

Jeep
Don’t look now, but the Wrangler 4xe – that’s the PHEV model – remains the highest-selling PHEV in North America, which likely puts it near the top of the sales chart globally as well.
With the Wrangler, EV power is good for gas-free cruising but the instant torque it delivers means it helps in off-road environments as well, and folks are loving it for that as well as its traditional styling.
Right now, the Wrangler is the only PHEV model available from Jeep, the Grand Cherokee 4xe having been discontinued for the 2024 model-year.
