The other Hyundai Group mass-market brand offers not one but three PHEV options, all crossovers and SUVs. The Niro, larger Sportage and largest Sorento can all be had as plug-in models.

Both the Sportage and Sorento come equipped with 1.6L turbo 4-cylinder engines, while the smaller, urban-oriented Niro gets a non-turbo 1.6L. Power for the two larger models comes in at 177 hp and 195 lb-ft of torque, while the plucky Niro will zip you to the office on the strength of 104 hp and 106 lb-ft of torque.

In the case of the mid-engined Revuelto, not only does it provide a power boost (bringing the total to 1,015 hp), it’s also what provides the Revuelto with AWD. It adds not one but two EV motors to the front axle, providing silent EV cruising – for a handful of kilometres, anyway – but provides great pull out of corners and acts as a torque vectoring system.
