Those who follow the development of green vehicles have long known that more hybrid, electric and fuel -cell vehicles are sold in California than in any other American state. But just how deeply have green cars infiltrated automotive sales there? The Green Car Reports website takes a look specifically at sales of the Ford Fusion, and finds that no fewer than 4 out of 10 Fusions sold in the Los Angeles region are hybrids or plug-in hybrids.
More specifically, 42% of Ford Fusion cars bought since May of this year are “green”, according to figures supplied by IHS Automotive. What’s more, the trend does not appear to be slowing down, since sales of the Fusion hybrid rose by 35% this past June over the same period last year. The Fusion Energi, meanwhile, saw its sale climb 40% in June 2016 compared to June 2015.
Competition is becoming increasingly fierce in the electric car segment, which includes such models as the Kia Optima and Hyundai Sonata plug-in hybrids, not to mention the Chevrolet Volt.
