2022 SPORTS CAR (4-CYLINDER ENGINE) OF THE YEAR

Mazda MX-5 - Hyundai Elantra N - Volkswagen Golf GTI / Golf R

With the 4-cylinder sports cars, we find a lot of models that have only one prerogative: to offer pleasure behind the wheel. And, with a very few exception, each one could credibly be a finalist in this segment, and several would be worthy winners.

However, the bosses said we had to make some choices, and the ones we settled on are pretty intriguing, even if we do says o ourselves: Congrats, Mazda MX-5 (are you surprised? This is a lock to be at least a finalist, year in, year out), Hyundai Elantra N, and the Volkswagen Golf GTI and R duo in their new incarnations.

2022 SPORTS CAR (5-CYLINDER ENGINE AND MORE) OF THE YEAR

Porsche 718 Boxster GTS - Cadillac CT4-V / CT5-V Blackwing - Chevrolet Corvette

Moving on to sports cars with 5-cylinder engines and more, we're back with some steroidal fun, since the power ante has been raised. More power, more sensations and higher prices, too. And there is something for everyone; from the American muscle car to the exotic – it’s all here.

This year, the vehicles that caught our eye and raised our pulses were the Porsche 718 Boxster GTS, the Cadillac CT4-V and CT5-V Blackwing dynamic duo, and the Chevrolet Corvette.

So who will win? Germany or America?
