Canadian Bruno Spengler (AMG Mercedes-Benz C-Class) set this morning the fastest time in the pre-race warm-up session of the DTM race to be held this afternoon at the Nurburgring in Germany.
The 23-year old Spengler topped the timing sheet in front of his Mercedes teammate Jamie Green, Mattias Ekström (Audi) and Tom Kristensen (Audi).
Spengler will however start the race far behind the field this afternoon, in 16th position after a difficult qualifying performance yesterday in torrential rain.
"I had almost no grip and no traction," said Spengler yesterday. "I don't know why, as the conditions were poor, but it was the same for everybody. We will now analyse the data and see what we can do to improve for tomorrow. With a good start I should have a chance to score points."
