Belgian race car driver Jerome d'Ambrosio has been named Lotus F1 Team's reserve driver for the 2012 Formula 1 World Championship.
D'Ambrosio made his debut in F1 last year, racing for the small Marussia Virgin team alongside veteran Timo Glock. He lost his ride at the end of the season.
However, the Belgian found a new home at Lotus for 2012. The decision may has been facilitated by the fact that he is a member of Gravity Sport Management, a company headed by Eric Boullier, Lotus F1 Team's General Manager.
D'Ambrosio will attend all Grands Prix this year, working with regular race drivers Kimi Raikkonen and Romain Grosjean. He will replace either of the two race drivers if required.
"He impressed as reserve driver for us in 2010 and at the end of that year he made a strong showing in the young driver test. He also showed strongly in his rookie season as an F1 race driver. I am looking forward to working with Jerome again and think he is a perfect addition to our driving strength,” said Boullier.
