In the final countdown to the first Grand Prix of the 2012 Formula One season, Lewis Hamilton says is "plenty to feel optimistic about".
After suffering more than enjoying the 2011 season, hindered by personal problems, Lewis Hamilton is looking to bounce back in 2012: "I actually feel more relaxed and ready for the new season than I think I've ever done," he said to Autosport.com.
The Brit, comparing the pre-season in 2011 with pre-season in 2012, admits the build-up this year has gone a lot better.
"Everything has gone smoothly with the car - which is more than we can say for last year! – and it just seems to be a responsive and reliable package."
He also reckons that the 20-race season will be a long one, and that victory in Melbourne is not essential to a championship push. Rather, he focuses on the long run.
"That might sound like we're aiming low – we're not – […]. As long as I can leave Australia feeling confident that we have a car that's able to fight for the title, then I'll feel happy. It's as simple as that."
