Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) today announced that it will investigate the crash that killed Star Trek actor Anton Yelchin, 27, on June 19th, according to Reuters.
The guy who played Pavel Chekov died when his Jeep Grand Cherokee, which was parked on an incline in his driveway, suddenly rolled toward him and crushed him against a safety fence.
A few weeks ago, some 2014-2015 Grand Cherokees were recalled due to a shift lever malfunction that could allow the vehicle to move even when left in “Park.” This problem has already caused 41 injuries, 212 accidents, and 308 damage reports.
Did Yelchin die as a direct result? That’s what FCA investigators will determine.
