Scott Pruett and Memo Rojas took the first step of the podium in Homestead Saturday when they won the second round of Grand-Am’s 2010 season.

The last sprint to the checkered flag was intense – to say the least – but Pruett managed to keep David Donohue behind, weaving through GT traffic. Donohue was simply unable to pass.

Alex Gurney and Jon Fogarty completed the overall podium of this relatively incident-free race – apart from a car in fire in the pits, which was rapidly taken care of.

In GT, Jeff Segal passed Sylvain Tremblay with 13 minutes remaining to the race when the final restart was given. It was a third victory in the last six races for Segal and teammate Emil Assentato.

The race could be called a deception for Tremblay that led 44 laps only to cross the finish line in fourth. Jonathan Bomarito and he remain the championship leaders regardless with a three point advantage over Robin Liddell and Andrew Davis, second in Homestead.

Third were Leh Keen and James Gue for Dempsey Racing. Polesitter Paul Edwards finished sixth with teammate Scott Russell.
