As Auto123.com had revealed some weeks ago, Michael Shank Racing has now confirmed that it will field an entry in next year IZOD IndyCar Series’ season.
In 2012, MSR Indy will be on the grid for the IZOD IndyCar Series season opener at St. Petersburg (March 25) as confirmed by Michael Shank who was joined by INDYCAR CEO Randy Bernard for this occasion.
NASCAR Sprint Cup driver AJ Allmendinger and businessman Brian Bailey are on board as principal partners. It’s a business partnership for Allmendinger and his Walldinger Racing management company.
Being a freshman team, Shank said he's like to have a veteran driver in the car.
“I’d like to be announcing our sponsorship and driver today, but we are not far enough on those plans to do that. But it was really important for us to come out here and announce our commitment to this program and to keep moving ahead with our plans. I couldn’t be more excited.”
