The Radiant iSun presented by McGill University
A team of engineers from McGill University has built three solar-powered racing cars since 1993, showcasing their unique vehicles at auto events throughout North America and Australia. The third car, known as the iSun, which will be presented as one of this year's Auto Show special attractions, is the result of two years of work by McGill students, who have succeeded in building an impressive car that weighs only 350 pounds (159 kg), thus making it the lightest vehicle in North America. This car can travel up to 120 kilometres per hour and maintain a cruising speed of 80 kilometres per hour on a sunny day. The car is also equipped with batteries that allow the storage of energy for travel during cloudy days.
Nostalgia, presented by Le Musée du Domaine
Le Musée du Domaine, located in Pohénégamook in Eastern Québec, was founded by Charles E. Guérette. The Museum is run by La Fondation du Musée du Domaine, a non-profit organisation that assists young mothers in difficulty. The Museum will highlight some of their classic vehicles at the Auto Show, on loan from their permanent vintage collection. Some of the cars to be on display include a rare 1929 Marmon Roosevelt, a spectacular 1949 Jaguar, a 1981 De Lorean and, for every baby-boomer who is looking for a sweet car memory, a 1962 Thunderbird and a 1979 Austin Mini. The Foundation will be able to raise funds for its worthy cause during the Auto Show by selling tickets to visitors for a special draw that will see the winner handed the keys to a 2003 Mercedes C 230.
