Well Done for Weldon - IRL Report
Dan Wheldon has all but been crowned 2005 IRL champion. He only has to
show up at Watkins Glen to secure his title. Wheldon collected his sixth win of the year this past weekend when he won the PEAK Antifreeze Indy 300 at Chicagoland Speedway.
''It's difficult in this series,'' Wheldon said, ''To have won six is a very proud moment for me." What, no thanks to the team Dan?
Patrick Carpentier, of Joliette, Que., finished ninth to register his 10th top-10 effort of the season. Carpentier has been getting stronger of late due to improved performance from his Toyota engines.

Bull Racing has bought Minardi F1 outright, and will field a 'junior' team in Formula 1 next year. Interestingly enough, although Red Bull Racing would then own two teams, under the current Formula 1 rules, both teams could not run the same spec car. F1 rules dictate a team must 'build' their car, so the current Red Bull (previously Jaguar F1) team cannot use the identical car that the new Red Bull (previously Minardi) team is using.
Red Bull may not be the only team fielding a 'second team', as there is much talk of McLaren-Mercedes fielding a 'junior' team. For Canadians this could be good news, as Mercedes DTM driver Bruno Spengler, from St-Hypolitte, Que. could well get a seat in the second team in 2006.
