Canadian Motorsports Hero One Classy Guy
This supplement of the Motorsport Report features Russ Bond interviewing one of Canada's top race drivers,
Ron Fellows:
Russ Bond (RB): Ron, I imagine it would be hard to find any Canadian involved in racing, busier than you are. There is the American Le Mans Series Corvette C6R program, your Nextel Cup duties, the odd Cadillac CTS-V drive, but also there is the Sunoco Ron Fellows Karting Championship presented by Toronto Star Wheels. We'll get to that in a minute, but, coming off a good run at Mosport with the Corvette - plus a win in the Cadillac CTS-V in Speed GT - last week, you must be happy with that performance in front of your hometown fans?
Ron Fellows (RF): Well, I'm not satisfied. I certainly felt like we should have been able to win the ALMS race as well and I know Johnny feels the same way. It
was close and I'm sure entertaining for the fans as that was far away the best race of the year. It's been a little frustrating the last few races with the Corvette, being fast enough to win but unable to get the track position we needed. It was great getting a win for Cadillac on Saturday as they sure needed it with the manufacturers' battle with Porsche. They have Laguna Seca on October 16, just one race to go and I believe Cadillac is 3 points behind.
RB: Mosport was a busy weekend, as the Sunoco Ron Fellows Karting Championship presented by Toronto Star Wheels was at the 'Driver Development track' on the same weekend. Can you explain just what the series is, and how it came to be?
