RF: What makes it a winner? From the Corvette production team to the GM Racing and Pratt & Miller team, it's the people. There is no question that with both the C5 and now the C6, the team has had the ability to develop a racecar from a great, production sports car but you add quality people to that package and you have now increased your chances for success greatly. The personnel that have been assembled by GM Racing, together with Gary Pratt and Jim Miller is becoming a dominant force certainly in all forms of road racing.

Gary and I joke about the first test we did with the C5-R back in the fall of '97 - four guys, a pickup truck and a laptop! Now the GM Racing/Pratt&Miller team has nearly 100 people in their facility in New Hudson, Michigan. The end result for the Corvette C6-R is that it does everything well; stopping, turning, straight-line, it's an awesome racecar to drive. And you can't discount the other partners in the team; Katech who do the engines and Michelin who manage to the tire program. It all adds up to a dominant force that is currently the car and the team to beat in production-based sports car racing.
