Ford says its SYNC and MyFord Touch connectivity system is driving more than half of new Ford owners to the brand. The system launched in 2010 on the Explorer and Edge models, and Ford says order rates have increased 5% going into the 2012 model year, up from 79 per cent of Explorer buyers and 72 per cent of Edge buyers who already order the system.
After polling drivers of 2011 and 2012 SYNC and MyFord Touch-equipped models, the manufacturer learned that 62 per cent use SYNC’s hands-free calling capability at least daily; 85 per cent use Bluetooth audio streaming, nearly half using it daily.
Ford continues to extend the system across its lineup, including into the new 2013 Ford Flex and Taurus, and is in the process of launching an upgraded MyFord Touch for current owners.
Ford launches its first major software upgrade with the 2013 Taurus and Flex, including an enhanced touchscreen interface with simpler graphics and bolder text, quicker response times, and better recognition for voice controls. New features include better phone compatibility, support for tablets and Audible audiobooks, and improved navigation maps.
