Nissan is expanding their upcoming 370Z lineup right in front of our eyes--and one of the models helping do it intends to put an extra level of performance into the hands of Z-car shoppers later this year.

Launched recently at the New York International Auto Show, the Nissan Nismo 370Z is a factory-tweaked version of the standard car. Rather than throwing on the strut tower brace, performance goodies and wheels themselves, Nissan has done it for enthusiast buyers, right at the factory.

The resulting car, called the Nismo 370Z, gets racing-inspired styling inside and out, rolls on a super-lightweight set of Rays wheels and is hung from a specially-tuned suspension. Power climbs from 332 to an even 350 horsepower, thanks to an exhaust H-pipe, performance muffler and a retuned ECU. Unlike parts from eBay, all of the modified parts fitted to the Nismo 370Z are covered by Nissan's warranty, too.

Rear wheels are driven by a six-speed manual gearbox, which is the exclusive transmission offering for the Nismo-branded variant of the latest Z car. Power is transferred to the rear wheels by a carbon fiber driveshaft and limited-slip differential.

Setting the Nismo variant apart visually are upgrades like a chin spoiler, extended nose with canards, special side sills and a functional rear spoiler. A unique rear bumper is fitted as well, helping to control air flow under the car. Conveniently, the Nismo body-kit is fitted, painted and attached skillfully to the car prior to purchase.

The Nismo 370Z is expected to go on sale this June--just in advance of the second update to the 370Z lineup.

Set for sale later this summer is Nissan's 370Z Roadster--which now offers goodies like heated and cooled seats, Nissan's Intelligent Key System, and a motorized, auto-locking cloth roof mechanism with glass window.

Extensive use of aluminum keeps the roadster light, while the smaller body and shorter wheelbase team up with the 332 horsepower engine for memorable performance. Depending on the owner's tastes, a Sport Package and Navigation package can be specified. Bluetooth, leather seating, satellite radio and a full selection of safety features are available or standard, too.

"As expected, the 370Z Roadster delivers an exhilarating connection to the air, wind and environment on top of the new Z Coupe's exceptional levels of performance" said Al Castignetti, VP and general manager of the Nissan Division at Nissan North America. "But perhaps unexpected for a car this sporty is its greatly enhanced refinement and quality-- s seen in features such as its one-touch, auto-locking convertible top and beautifully crafted interior."

Nissan says that the 370Z Roadster will be on sale in late summer.
