It looks like Porsche is currently working to develop a plug-in hybrid version of the iconic 911, more specifically the next-generation model due around 2020. The German sports car manufacturer has a lot of things to figure out first, however, according to Erhard Mössle, chief engineer for the Porsche 911 Turbo, Carrera 4, and Targa.
According to Car and Driver, one issue, of course, is the size and weight of the battery. How can it fit under the car? And what about the electric drive unit? Porsche needs to design a compact and lightweight battery system that will still provide the necessary amount of power and range.
