Slowly but surely, the industrial espionage saga that shook Renault – and turned out to be an internal power struggle that caused the dismissal of managers Matthieu Tenenbaum, Michel Balthazard and Bertrand Rochette – is drawing to a close. The French automaker announced that a settlement had been reached with the three men.
Tenenbaum, formerly head of the electric vehicle development, will be joining Renault’s strategy and planning department on May 2, while Balthazard and Rochette refused to be reinstated. Though it hasn’t been revealed nor confirmed, it’s highly likely that they received financial compensation.
The managers were falsely accused and later fired in light of an incriminating report from head of security Dominique Gevrey. The tables turned when it was discovered that the report was fraudulent. Gevrey was dismissed and arrested along with four other high-ranking employees, and chief operating officer Patrick Pélata resigned.
