Chevrolet dealer and NASCAR team owner Rick Hendrick paid $800,000 USD for the first new retail production Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Convertible at the Barrett-Jackson auction in Scottsdale, Arizona, on January 16th.

Hendrick is an avid Corvette collector, and his new acquisition will join an impressive portfolio that includes the first 2014 Corvette Stingray Coupe (for which he paid $1.05 million in 2013), the first 2014 Corvette Stingray Convertible ($1 million), as well as the first 2015 Corvette Z06 Coupe ($1 million). Considering that he paid just $800k for the 2015 Corvette Z06 Convertible, I'd say he made a great deal!

At the same Barrett-Jackson auction, Ford sold the very first 2016 Mustang Shelby GT350R for $1 million, while the GM-built 1950 Futurliner Parade of Progress Tour bus fetched $4 million.
