Canadian Touring Car Championship President John Bondar has made official the inception of the new Canadian Supercar Series (Supercar).
As planned, the 43rd Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières, in August 2012, will be the scene of the inaugural event.
"I'm very excited to launch Supercar today," said Bondar in a press release. "This series gives the opportunity to race car drivers and race fans to experience ultra high performance racing here in Canada."
In 2012, racers will compete for the single event's Mayor's cup. Officials are then expected, in the aftermath of the GP3R, to start working on a more exhaustive 2013 calendar.
