8 – Porsche 911 Carrera 4 (coupe and cabriolet)
Nothing could ever be considered banal about the Porsche 911, a model that turns 45 this year. Last year marked the debut of the model’s new generation, and is the company’s wont, variants of that new 911 have been appearing in the months since. In Frankfurt it was the turn of the Carrera 4. The vehicle, it’s promised, will deliver better road handling thanks to a liquid-cooled front differential, and it relies for power on a 379-hp 6-cylinder engine in four-wheel-drive configuration. Overall, this may be the most convivial Porsche 911 available on the market.
9 – Lamborghini Sian
No automotive event of this amplitude would be complete without a selection of exotice cars. At the Lamborghini stand, visitors can see this 819-hp beast making its debut. The Sian supercar gets a V12 engine, but its hybridity doesn’t come from a traditional electric system using a lithium-ion battery. Rather, it uses a super-condenser with faster reactions than a traditional battery. With the V12 and a 34-hp electric motor at its beck and call, the Sian can go from 0-100 km/h in 2.8 seconds.
