Those who witnessed the reveal of the Genesis X Speedium concept in April at the New York International Auto show will have seen a low, lithe, luxurious and distinctive EV grand tourer that cut a swathe through the scenery more Bentley than Hyundai, the latter of course being Genesis’ parent company.

For LA – likely the city with more convertibles on its roads than any other in North America, and perhaps the world – Genesis popped the Speedium’s top, as it were. Now called simply “Convertible”, the latest Genesis X concept gets the wheels, the lines, the interior digs (including digital gauge cluster) to ensure it has the chops to compete with the best of the best drops on Rodeo Drive.

Is Genesis actually going to make this? Hard to say - the company is non-committal. But it is saying that many of the stylistic highlights seen here – namely the wraparound headlights – will make their way in some form on future Genesis production models.
