2nd place: Kia Seltos LX -- $27,195
If you’re looking to go funky with your AWD crossover, then Kia’s latest entry in the segment could be the ticket. It looks cool, comes well-equipped and can be had with AWD in a host of bright colours that provide a nice break from the bleak whites and greys so often seen on roads today.
Power for the Seltos LX comes courtesy a 2.0L 4-cylinder engine good for 146 hp and 132 lb-ft.

1st place: Mitsubishi RVR ES AWC -- $26,598

Like a number of vehicles on this list, the RVR can be had with FWD or AWD. (Actually, since we’re talking about a Mitsubishi, the correct nomenclature is “S-AWC”, shorthand for “Super All-Wheel Control”) But even in AWD form, you’re looking at just over 25 grand for the ES AWC model, which gets this RVr the number-one spot on our 2024 ranking of affordable AWD models.
The model, beside offering AWD, features a smooth shifting continuously variable transmission (CVT) and a 2.0L 4-cylinder engine good for 148 hp and 145 lb-ft of torque.

Anndd… just outside the top 10, a bonus pick, because why not!
11th place: Volkswagen Taos Trendline 4Motion -- $32,250

VW’s smallest crossover is essentially the replacement for both the Golf hatchback and Golf Sportwagen, as it offers similar dynamics to the Golf hatch, and similar interior space to the Sportwagen. It wins out on the headroom front, however, as its tall greenhouse means lots of room for occupants’ noggins and also a great view out.
Power comes from a single engine choice: a 1.5L turbocharged 4-cylinder good for 158 hp and 184 lb-ft of torque. All of that power is transmitted to the wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic, providing the Taos the most dynamic drive on this list.
