Auto123: You’ve been on the job since November. What have these first few months been like?
Duffield: Well, those first months we had to get out of our building which was sold, and get into this new one, wasn’t quite ready, so we had to go into an interim building. That took up a lot of my energy.
Auto123: What are priorities or aspirations for Jaguar Land Rover Canada over the next year?
Duffield: Now that we’re into the new building, we can really focus on selling cars and SUVs. Certainly a priority with me is the dealers, to make sure they are engaged, that we have partnerships, that we have a sense of urgency, to really drive the business forward.
We don’t intend to be competing head to head with the big boys of luxury, we don’t need to, but we need to grow our business. We sold 3,300 vehicles last year. With introduction of the Evoque there is no reason we shouldn’t be selling 5,000 vehicles a year in the foreseeable future.
