The return of the Nissan Versa
Coming back down to earth just a little, we see Nissan has announced the return of the Nissan Versa. The model had disappeared from the Canadian market when the Micra was introduced in 2015. However, our American neighbours never got the Micra, which was a Canadian exclusive, and so they kept the Versa.
With the Micra being withdrawn from Nissan's catalogue and the Versa getting renewed, Nissan decided to bring the model back to Canada to place the Versa in entry-level position in its lineup in lieu of the Micra. The first pictures show us a vehicle that offers a better-quality finish than the previous generation and styling closer to the new Sentra.
Under the hood is a 1.6L engine block that produces 122 hp and 114 lb-ft of torque that comes standard in the base version with a 5-speed manual transmission (yes 5-speed) or the Xtronic continuously variable transmission in the other versions. Fuel consumption is very good, with 5.8L/100km on the highway and 7.3L/100km in town for the CVT.
The car is expected at dealers by the end of the summer and no pricing has been announced yet.
