Access to what? Among other things, its instrument panel is conceptually derived from the production XC90 but consists of far fewer elements. It's a minimalist approach, including a conventionally styled shroud, complete with digital gauges. Stalk switches and mounted buttons on a fixed-center steering wheel include selectors for the automated shifted manual gearbox. A streamlined anodized aluminum floating center-console houses additional controls, while thin cushion rail mounted seats covered in thick saddle-quality Havana leather are designed for maximum support in a minimum of space.

Leather gets used for the carpeting as well. Say what? It's true. Nubuck leather strand rugs are hand woven by Swedish artisans, a different approach but durable and supposedly extremely comfortable to the feet.

A close look at the dash makes what isn't there most apparent. A blatant lack of interior ventilation might first cause concern for those requiring fresh air, until Volvo's innovative ambient air distribution system is explained. Air is fed through concealed outlets, both providing a more uniform distribution and silent operation. Two added benefits are the reduction of distracting reflections and dashboard clutter. The system also ducts additional ventilation through the tunnel console.
