Hyundai’s new flagship, the gargantuan Equus, will finally drop anchor in North America over the next few months. And it looks like the wait will have been worth it, as the new full-size, rear-wheel-drive, high luxury sedan boasts an impressive number of new features that Hyundai had yet to explore.

Other than its proportions and finish, which make it a direct contender with the BMW 7 Series and Lexus LS, the Equus benefits from technical innovations and accessories seldom seen in its rivals. The ottoman, for instance, is a standard feature of the big sedan. As is the customer service, supposedly as exclusive as the car itself. We’ll have to wait and see if the Korean manufacturer will garner the hoped-for success.

It’s tiny, jazzy, and not yet available in Canada, but the little Scion IQ already has fans of small, high-performance cars – relatively speaking – drooling. The IQ’s high-performance aspect has more to do with fuel economy than anything else, as it travels along to the tune of a small, 1.3-litre engine.

With room for just three adults and one child, this munchkin definitely qualifies as the smallest four-passenger car in the world. And its unique design coupled with a long list of optional accessories will undoubtedly attract buyers looking for both style and fuel efficiency. But we’ll have to arm ourselves with patience – it won’t be here before early 2011.
