Hyundai Palisade
Like any number of other manufacturers, Hyundai is busily laying down one SUV after another. Just in the last four months, we’ve gotten a new Santa Fe, the small Kona and now the big - very big - Palisade.
The Santa Fe XL, you might already know, is not back for 2019, and Hyundai is replacing that variant with something even bigger. The Palisade is a three-row SUV with touches of luxury that come up at you unexpectedly and a host of user-friendly technologies. At a shade under 5 metres in length, it’s 75 mm longer than the Santa Fe XL; this takes it into Chevrolet Tahoe and GMC Yukon territory.
The engine powering the Palisade is a 3.8L V6 that we’ve already seen in the Genesis G80, with an Atkinson cycle to help reduce fuel consumption just a bit.
The standard HTRAC all-wheel-drive system includes a Sport mode that sends more power to the rear wheels for more dynamic sensations when at the wheel. There’s also a Snow mode that adjusts torque distribution between left and right wheels as well as back and front wheels.
