I've said it before and I'll say it again: I love station wagons. A while back, I test-drove a Volkswagen Passat and a Cadillac CTS wagon. As I cruised around in these cars, I felt so smart, so much wiser than everyone. Here I was driving around in a car with as much cargo room as most other SUVs and CUVs all the while consuming much less fuel (OK, not exactly true with the Caddy) but you get the point.
I recall one morning where I was making my way through heavy traffic, heading towards the office and I got cut off by a Passat Wagon 3.6 4MOTION (so it was OK...) and I was literally surrounded by a Mazda Protegé5, Toyota Matrix, a Legacy wagon and a rare but delightful Volvo V50. What great company!
Another thing that I really appreciate about wagons is that they do not suffer the same stigma typically reserved for SUVs and some CUVs. Best of all, my Volvo wagon or any other for that matter, always fly below the radar; who in their right mind would want to drive a comical old-school family hauler like a mad man?
