THE BUSCH SERIES

You probably did not realize it but it's in the Busch Series that there were the most Canadian drivers, at least eight! For us, the Busch Series was the most interesting because, for the first time, the Series came to Canada, having an incredible success at Le Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal in August. Let's thank Patrick Carpentier for the entertainment and a spectacular second place at the finish (and, let's not forget it, a pole earlier!)

The series (that will become the Nationwide Series next year) belonged to the Roush-Fenway and Nextel Cup driver Carl Edwards (No. 60 Ford Fusion) for at least the first half of the season. Carl had built an incredible 852-point lead by race 22 of 35. He ended with 618 points ahead of second finisher Toyota Camry driver David Reutimann.

Most races were won by Cup drivers except for wins by Jason Leffler (he scored the first win ever for Toyota in the series), Stephen Leicht (Ford Fusion) and Aric Almirola (he started the race but Denny Hamlin took over the wheel and won... for Almirola).

Carpentier ran three races in the series. After his performance in Montreal, he went to Watkins Glen and Phoenix. In the latter, he crashed early! By the way, Patrick was not the best Canadian driver in the standings. No! It was D.J. Kennington who did 11 races and ended up 56th.

Without making noise, John Graham racked up enough points to finish 77th while veteran Ron Fellows was 85th. As for Carpentier, he came in 93rd. Trevor Boys was 120th, J.R. Fitzpatrick is shown in 127th place, Michael Valiante in 140th and veteran Randy Mc Donald (he has been in NASCAR for quite a while) is 157th ...on 161 participants. Did we forget any other Canadian?
