Everyone Left With a Smile!
'Nothing As Fun As A MINI' came to Vancouver this weekend and delighted drivers of all ages and abilities. Whether Paul Tracy or a Paul Tracy wanna-be, MINI Canada offered drivers of all abilities the opportunity to put the MINI through its paces.

As Sean Martin, MINI Canada rep, put it, "everyone leaves with a smile." And those smiling faces were attached to bodies ranging in age from 20-something to 70 plus. Men, women and simply warm bodies with a pulse and driver's licence qualified to grab the ergonomically contoured MINI steering wheel and push the envelope around the tightly laid out track. With fresh images from the movie, 'The Italian Job' flashing through their minds, over six hundred MINI fans wove their way through the cones before the event wrapped up on Sunday, August 24th.

The course combined a straightaway, lane change, several sharp right-handers and a couple of 's' curves before arriving at the stop-box, which allowed entrants to test the car's 4-wheel anti-lock disc brakes. If a driver entered a corner without brushing-off enough excess speed, the MINI's active safety system stepped in to prevent a loss of control due to oversteer, understeer or excessive yaw. This is accomplished by computer controlled braking of the appropriate wheel, so even when the driver is unable to control himself, the MINI is.
