The lightest Roller is the Ghost, which tips the scales at 5,209 pounds or 2,360 kilograms. As a result, it’s hard to imagine how an electric powertrain could get one of their leather-lined yachts moving swiftly and for a reasonable distance.

Rolls-Royce’s answer to the question is the 102EX, or what is also known as the Phantom Experimental Electric. The 102EX is a one-off, fully-electric Phantom the company is relying on in the next year to provide them with research data as well as gauge the reaction among shareholders, owners, enthusiasts and the media.
The 102EX will tour across Europe, the Middle East, Asia and North America. It will be on display in auto shows starting with Geneva, and select Rolls owners will get the opportunity to drive it in order to share their feedback. Customers have to like it if the company hopes to sell them, right?
We’ll have to wait until March 1st for technical specifications, pictures and video, as Rolls-Royce is seeking to build a certain hype around the car. There are no plans for production at this time.
