CHERRY HILL, N.J. — Subaru of America, Inc. has created a one-of-a-kind, 2002 Subaru Autograph Edition Impreza WRX featuring autograph signatures from some of the world's greatest tennis athletes. The Autograph Edition WRX was inspired by longtime Subaru driver and spokesperson, Martina Navratilova, and designed by Subaru of America, Inc. The Subaru Autograph Edition WRX will be auctioned off to the highest bidder at a player's dinner in conjunction with the Schick Extreme III Tennis Challenge in Bellevue, Wash. on October 6th, 2001. All proceeds from the Autograph Edition WRX auction will benefit patient care and research at the University of Washington Medical Center Breast Care and Cancer Research Center.
In addition to a turbocharged 2.0-liter boxer engine mated to a five-speed manual transmission, Autograph Edition features a wild, tennis-themed interior and exterior graphic treatment set against eye-catching, Blaze Yellow paint. Complementing the exterior are autographs from tennis superstars of yesterday and today including: Navratilova, Andre Agassi, Venus and Serena Williams, Patrick and John McEnroe, Chris Evert, Billie Jean King, Patrick Rafter, Jonathan Stark, Jennifer Capriati, Lindsay Davenport, Jim Courier, Steffi Graf and Pete Sampras. Highlights include a customized interior, a leather MOMO shift knob and special Autograph Edition floor mats. Further enhancements include body-colored BBS(R) alloy wheels and full ground effects treatment including front and rear air dams and side skirts for a racy look.
