Toyota Prius

This second generation of the hybrid car is a true star. It proudly paraded up to Hollywood’s red carpet, driven by the likes of Meg Ryan and Leonardo Di Caprio, and thus became the darling of eco-minded celebrities everywhere. Although not particularly attractive, it did launch a trend: the extraordinary looking hybrid that drives like an ordinary car. Its new-generation sibling is more efficient but less charismatic.

Dodge Challenger SRT8

The Dodge Challenger is not meant to be driven, bur rather to be heard and seen. You have to admit, for those who think longingly of days gone by, the Challenger’s look is truly a success. Extremely modern, it nevertheless features the very elements that made it famous over the years. Add some interior details like the famous Pistol Grip shifter, and you have a real little gem. Under the hood, the big HEMI V8’s roar is heard miles around and attracts a lot of attention. It’s true that the beast is neither manoeuvrable nor exactly a mechanical treasure, but it makes up for it in style.

Mazda RX-8

A real little race car destined for the road, the RX-8 is one of the most enjoyable drives I’ve come across. Its steering allows you to zip through the tightest corners despite the car’s considerable length, and it responds to each request with a gentle purring.

You can criticize its lack of power and especially the lack of torque of its rotary engine (not to mention its excessive oil consumption), but you can never take away its sheer driving enjoyment.
