Mazda CX-5… or else the CX-50?
In principle, Mazda's representative in this very important niche is the CX-5, but in the last few months, the brand's offering has expanded to include the CX-50. This more-rugged model is more of a direct opposite to the Subaru Outback wagon, truth be told, but given that it’s based on the same architecture as the Mazda3 and the CX-30, the CX-50 can still be considered a compact SUV.
Otherwise, the CX-5 remains one of the most fun to drive on the market.
Each in their own way thus earns their spot on this list.
