A major recall by BMW Canada affects 65,285 cars including the 2009-2011 Z4, 2012 X1, 2007-2011 3 Series, and 2008-2012 1 Series.
In some cases, the positive battery cable connection to the fuse box could fail while the vehicle is being driven. This could interrupt the electrical system, resulting in engine stalling or a loss of vehicle propulsion. Various systems such as the headlights and taillights could also stop working.
All of that could increase the risk of a crash, so BMW dealers will replace the positive battery cable connector with an updated version.
