Multiple automakers, including the Big 3 and others, are recalling specific vehicles in order to replace faulty parts.
Nissan Motor Co. Ltd. Announced that they will recall 268,000 vehicles to fix an engine part that could potentially cause a fire. They are also working to fix another problem that could lead to the fire, stated federal safety officials NHTSA on Tuesday.

The cars involved in the recall include the 2002 and 2003 Nissan Altima and Sentra cars with the 2.5-liter, four-cylinder engines. The problem seems to be a pin on the exhaust pipe hanger that catches road debris. The heat from the engine could instigate the fire. Dealers will eradicate the protruding part of the pin from the exhaust.
The NHTSA also reported that Nissan was attempting to solve catalyst difficulties which could, over time, lead to engine burning oil and probably could cause fires. No comment was offered by Nissan spokespeople regarding the issue.
