If you think your classic Aston Martin, Ferrari or Lamborghini is the most popular vintage brand among thieves, think again. It seems those with criminal intentions prefer domestic muscle.

Say what? It's true. According to Hagerty Insurance, the largest insurer of collectible cars and motorcycles in the United States, classic Chevrolets are stolen most often.
Top of the list is America's sports car, the Chevy Corvette. Model years 1966 through 1982 make up 13.3% of stolen classics, a massive number considering the sheer volume of alternative collector cars available.

Second on the list for 6.5% of all thefts is none other than Eleanor, or more specifically 1964 through 1969 Ford Mustangs.
It makes sense though, that the cars thieves want to steal are the classics most popular among collectors. Mustangs have been stellar sellers since their inception, and continue to go up in value every year.
