Montreal, – Stock-Car Montréal, the organizing body of the NAPA Auto Parts 200 Presented by Dodge, has added a one-hour Autograph Session during the admission-free Discovery Day on Friday August 28 at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. Between 2:00 and 3:00 p.m. at the track center, race fans will be able to meet with eight of the top Quebec drivers entered in the NASCAR Nationwide and Canadian Tires Series, and Formula Tour 1600. During that time, the remaining Quebec drivers entered in the Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series will be out on track for a free practice session in order to get their race cars ready for their 5:00 p.m. qualifying session.
“This day has been organized with the fans in mind, so we thought it would be proper to give them an opportunity to meet with their favorite drivers,” explained François Dumontier, promoter of the event. “We want to thank the drivers who responded positively to our invitation to take part in the autograph session. It will be an hour well spent for the fans, and we invite the public to join in great numbers.”
Listed below are the names of the drivers taking part in the one-hour autograph session:
-Patrick Carpentier, driver of car 99 in the NASCAR Nationwide Series.
-Jacques Villeneuve, driver of car 32 in the NASCAR Nationwide Series.
-Andrew Ranger, driver of car 27 in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series and car 11 in Nationwide.
-Alex Tagliani, driver of car 03 in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series and car 81 in Nationwide.
-Jean-François Dumoulin, driver of car 7 in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series and car 23 in the Nationwide.
-Patrice Brisebois, driver of car 71 in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series.
-Patrick Laperle, driver of car 91 in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series.
-Didier Schraenen, driver of car 94 in the Formula Tour 1600 Series.
Discovery Day is a race fan premiere at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. Visitors will be able to access all sections of the site open to the public, sit on the grassy knolls, or in the grandstands, and enjoy the on-track action. Fans, who intend to visit Circuit Gilles Villeneuve Friday August 28 for Discovery Day, will have to use the Montreal subway system (Métro) to access the site, as there is no public parking available on the islands. From the Parc Jean-Drapeau Metro station on Ile Saint-Hélène, the public will be directed to the Circuit via the Cosmos Bridge. All grandstands seats will be free for use on Discovery Day as the seating privileges of Saturday and Sunday ticket holders will not be in effect on Friday.
Tickets for the NAPA Auto Part 200, Presented by Dodge at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve on August 29-30, 2009 are currently on sale.
