North American Utility of the Year finalist: Acura RDX
The RDX SUV beat out some pretty serious contenders to make it into the final three. Among the models that ranked behind it, the new Cadillac XT4, the BMW X5, the Audi Q5, the Toyota RAV4, the Jeep Wrangler and the Volvo XC40. Those last two in particular have racked up numerous awards this year, so it’s saying something that NACTOY panel of experts chose the RDX from Honda’s premium brand instead.
The RDX features up-to-date technologies, upgraded safety features, striking design both inside and out, and a few surprises to boot. One of those is that it now runs on a 4-cylinder turbo instead of the old V6, but benefits from essentially the same amount of horsepower and more torque than before.
As we put it in our review, “Acura has put forth a very interesting model, pleasant to drive, with a turbo engine that is always present and accounted for! The comfort level of the interior is exceptional.”
