The extension of the motorway linking Paris to the road circuit of Nevers Magny-Cours could (we put the emphasis on the word ‘could’) be the first step towards a return of the Grand Prix of France in the Nièvre region.
At this moment, no discussions are taking place about such a move. But fans can only hope that the official inauguration of the new section of the highway could solve some of the problems linked to the relative remoteness of this fine facility.
The Nevers South-Magny-Cours/Moiry section, upon which work began in 2008, opened to users on the January 18. It will now be officially inaugurated on Friday 4 February at 11:30 am.
As part of the event, Magny-Cours has organised a parade from the motorway to the track, which will include a Formula 1 car, classic machines from the Nevers ANAVA association, an electric car from Exagon and a Superbike.
This news is sure to delight the 400,000 plus visitors who attend the circuit each year. Exit No.38 will take them directly to the heart of the Technopôle and on to the Nevers Magny-Cours circuit.
